Quetzal's Call

ROLE

Producer

DESCRIPTION

Quetzal’s Call is a mobile roguelite prototype developed as a student project with a strong focus on systemic progression and replayability. The project marked the team’s first deeper exploration of mobile development while operating under limited resources and without the option to bring in additional external resources.

As the Producer, I was responsible for planning, scope management, task coordination, and overall project leadership. My primary focus was to maintain production stability and milestone delivery despite unexpected challenges within the team.

WORKFLOW DESIGN

Full Production

Milestones included Feature Complete, Content Complete, and Demo Contender, focused on delivering the planned gameplay experience within scope.

KEY CHALLENGES & PRODUCTION DECISIONS

Challenge

Multiple dropouts within the art department caused delays and created a growing risk of missing key milestones.

Production Decision & Outcome

I introduced estimated task points to assess the department’s delivery pace more realistically. This revealed that even must-have assets would be difficult to complete on time. Based on this insight, I reallocated internal resources by shifting team members to support the art department. This stabilized production and allowed the project to continue without external hires or additional budget.

KEY LEARNING

Knowing your team’s full skill set is critical—especially in small teams—so that support can be reallocated quickly and effectively when unexpected situations arise.
